Doctor guided Soft Tissue TherapyTherapeutic Soft Tissue Therapy is an integral part of our treatment approach. By using various Manual Therapy techniques our certified, highly experienced therapists, guided by our doctors of Chiropractic, create balance in the muscles, so that every movement is more energetic. Joints can move freely without pain caused by muscular tension and adjustments can also become more effective. We regularly recommend focused, doctor guided Manual Therapy treatments with our skilled soft tissue therapists as part of our patients treatment protocol.
Spa Massage vs Soft tissue TherapyYou may have found yourself wondering how a spa massage differs from Soft Tissue Therapy administered in a clinical setting. After all, they both involve someone applying pressure to your body, right? Well, although they do share that similarity, there are many important distinctions between the two. It’s also essential to understand those differences for your own health and wellbeing.
Our Soft Tissue Therapy is focused on relieving a medical need and is individual to the person and condition being treated. In contrast, spa massage is frequently expected to be a relaxing overall experience and is typically the same routine for each client. For example, our doctors are musculoskeletal experts and are integral in guiding and training our therapists to work specifically with an injury or painful condition. In these cases, treatment notes are written to guide the therapist throughout care so maximum results can be reached. In addition, your insurance company is likely covering part of your visits, expecting the visits to aid in resolving a specific aliment or condition. Expertly Addressing Individual needs, Focusing on Results On the topic of techniques, another factor where the two types of massage differ is how your session is planned based on your individual needs. Consider how a longtime desk worker might seek out a treatment to deal with a difficult & busy year. Or a prenatal patients might look for ways to alleviate her pelvic and low back pain. At the same time, someone who’s been in a car accident may have completely different needs due to whiplash. Because of these differences, our therapists are trained to approach sessions with your specific needs in mind. Although a typical spa therapist has been trained in a massage routine, our treatment experts receive additional training and experience that allows them to provide advanced care for your health.
Finally, you will also find a difference in the suggested frequency of visits. Because there is a targeted plan during all of our treatment, you’ll have a goal that’s based around a health outcome and includes a series of timed visits versus a sporadic spa visit. In most cases, Soft Tissue Therapy factors into a larger plan to improve specific medical challenges you may be facing. Tangible results are what is expected with doctor guided care. Our TechniquesSoft Tissue TherapyIn this Manual Therapy treatment our skilled therapists will utilize a broad set of modalities, such as Trigger Point Therapy, Heat therapy, PNF stretching and Lymphatic drainage techniques to aid in muscle health recovery. Goals will be to move inflammation out of an inflamed muscle/joint area and/or release deep trigger points in a focused muscular area to allow this doctor recommended Soft Tissue Therapy to meet patients individual treatment needs. The combination of muscular therapy work alongside our Chiropractic adjustments creates a balance in the Musculoskeletal system (muscle and joint system) that cannot be reached with either treatment modality alone.
Pregnancy Soft Tissue TherapyOur doctors of Chiropractic hold specialties in working with Prenatal musculoskeletal imbalances and our certified therapists are all trained in specific prenatal Manual Therapy technique. This Manual Therapy treatment is recommended to patients experiencing pelvic pain and back pain during the increasing demands of pregnancy. Most of our prenatal patients are referred by OB/GYN's and midwives in the area in order to relieve painful conditions caused by musculoskeletal imbalance that accumulates during pregnancy. This Soft Tissue Therapy, like our Wellness Soft Tissue Therapy is also tailored to meet individual treatment needs & unlike other therapy locations, is doctor supervised to assure safety of care during this precious time.
Myofascial ReleaseMyofacial Release requires a highly skilled practitioner with many hours of additional training. It is a hands-on Manual Therapy technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and dysfunction. Restrictions in the fascia are often the result of injury, trauma, inflammatory responses, surgery or chronic conditions. Fascial restrictions can lead to numerous dysfunctions in the body.
Benefits of Myofascial Release are increased blood circulation, decreased pain, realignment of muscle fibers, breaking up of scar tissue, restoration of muscle elasticity, speeding up of the healing time post injury, and an increase in range of motion. MFR Deep Tissue TherapyMFR Fusion Deep Tissue therapy is a combination of the John F. Barnes method of myofascial release fused with deep tissue work, trigger point release, and functional muscle testing to diagnose weakness or imbalances causing overly tight muscles. These Soft Tissue Therapy sessions assist and support the body's healing process, guiding it toward alignment, balance, and pain-free movement. MFR Deep Tissue Therapy is recommended by our doctors to patients suffering from chronic tension that does not respond to conventional Manual Therapy techniques.

Lynsey Benesch, CMT

Lynsey joined the Inner Movement healing team in the summer of 2017.
She graduated as CMT from A to Z Health, Reseda, CA in 2014.
During these few short years she has gained much experience. Having worked for chiropractors since graduation, she has seen a pattern of chronic pain and tension due to our demanding life-styles of today.
To witness patients improve after receiving regular Soft Tissue Therapy sessions has been very rewarding. Knowing that she can aid with healing, pain management and increased range of motion, as well as elevating mood, she can see the benefits of Soft Tissue Therapy and has found her true calling.
Lynsey specializes in deep tissue and Swedish, focusing on neck/shoulder pain, sinus pressure/headaches, low back pain/sciatic pain and tendinitis.
During my time with InnerMovement, I have developed my prenatal technique, learning from the best prenatal chiropractor I’ve worked for, “Dr. Heidi”. It has boosted my confidence in providing optimal care for prenatal patients & prepping them for birth. I’ve been able to relieve many pregnancy related conditions such as back pain, pelvic pain, carpal tunnel and heart burn.
Lynsey can be very strong, but also has a light touch for the faint of heart. She listens and pays extra attention to her patients' needs, to provide a perfectly tailored session. She is very detailed and has an intuitive healing energy in her touch.
